When the winds at your back, keep pedaling.

May 22, 2013

Today was the biggest day yet on so many levels. A total of 119 miles from the petrified forest campground in Escalante to the town of Hanksville. There was one 4500 foot climb over about 40 miles that just continued to wind upwards. Good training for the Rockies! We passed the most amazing alien landscapes. Rocks like skyscrapers surrounded us and made us feel so tiny. This was the longest ride I’ve ever done and if it wasn’t for the scenery it wouldn’t have lasted as long. Any longer and I’m sure I would have started hallucinating. Now we are camped behind a restaurant on their old benches (with the owners permission). I got a warm shower at the motel across the street and now it’s bed time. What a day.
