Camp

May 15, 2013

Most amazing day yet? This one is hard to beat. We started at our camp past pancake summit over two great humps feeling sluggish. Caught Wu on that second jump and blew by him. Then again in Ely where we found him going the wrong way and luckily re directed him. In Ely we got some good Mexican food and went to the nicest cleanest laundromat ever where everyone was nice to us. We biked out of Ely in strong headwinds and my heel was bothering me, our destination was cave lake state park. We jumped in the cold lake which felt amazing then we ran into some geology students in a field class from eastern Washington state and Idaho state. We decided to go ask the class leaders if we could crash their site for the night. They said ok and we picked a camping spot around the packed hillside of tents and then introduced ourselves to the 40 or so college students. Everyone is great we ate a nice meal with them. Finally a really filling dinner. They caught crawdads in the lake to cook and we spent the night by the campfire. It's their second night so some are rowdy now which is ok with me. I will be asleep soon. Total of about 73 miles today. 63 tomorrow into baker.
